The Plan
“Well that was easy,” Rain had said as she walked toward Sid.
“Maybe too easy babe,” he’d replied. “Maybe too easy.”
They’d fallen into each others arms and she’d given him a passionate kiss. In unison he’d grabbed her ass and she his crotch. “Let’s go some place and fuck,” had come from both their mouths as if it’d been said by one person. Laughing they’d kissed again.
“We’ve got to get moving,” Sid had told her. “We need to get our asses moving and get back to your car as soon as possible. You did park the car in the place that I told you too? Right?”
“Yeah, right,” she’d replied. “Do you think I’m fucking stupid or something? I know I’m BLONDE and have big tits!!! But I’m not stupid. OK?”
“OK, baby, OK,” he’d answered. “That isn’t what I meant. I just wanted to make sure that you were able to find the place, you know it’s a bit off the main road that goes up the Peak and I didn’t want my baby to get lost, ya know?”
“Sorry,” she’d replied. “I am a bit edgy. You know I’ve never done anything like this before, so I’m a bit tense. I know you worry about me baby, I mean I know that you love me and you’d do anything for me. I’m sorry.. it’s just..”
“OK.. OK…” he’d said and kissed her on the lips just to shut her up.
They’d begun to walk down a narrow trail. The Barr had been filled with many of these trails for over the years many trekkers had found the Trail too easy for them, so they ventured off on their own. The mountainside had been covered with a labyrinth of these narrow trails, many had been dead ends, but many had been like this trail and merely been a short cut back to the main Trail. Sid had been there many times for he’d been planning this for sometime and wanted nothing left to chance. He’d known the place like the back of his hand.
As they’d approached the parking area, he’d grabbed her hand and started to run toward her car. “Come on! Come on!” he’d shouted at her. “Get that fine ass of yours moving. We need to get back to the Rover. We can’t afford to have her wake up before we get there. If she does we’re totally fucked.”
“Give me the keys and let me drive,” he’d continued. “I know these roads, we can’t make a wrong turn, we need to get back there and put the next stage of the plan in motion.”
She’d taken the keys from her pocket and reluctantly had thrown them to him, she hated anyone driving the Beemer, HER Beemer.
He’d disengaged the alarm, popped open the door and shouted. “Come on!! Come on!! Get the fuck in the car. Come on!! We’ve no time to lose.”
She’d opened the passenger door and slowly got into the car for she wanted to piss Sid off. ‘I mean, what the fuck, we put enough drugs in that coffee to knock her out for a week,’ she’d thought.
“I’m moving as fast as I can,” she’d said, just to piss him off even more.
“Fine, what ever,” had been his response. “What ever.”
He’d turned the key and the engine jumped into action. He’d jammed the shift into reverse and slowly backed out of the rather narrow spot in which Rain had hidden the car. After he’d been clear, he jammed it into 1st gear, released the clutch and jumped on the gas. The Beemer had laid rubber for about five feet before Sid had jammed it into 2nd and again popped the clutch and jumped on the gas. They’d been off, flying down the mountain road.
“Take it easy with the car you shit head,” she’d screamed. “I mean you know this isn’t a downhill race and there are some ferocious turns ahead.”
“I’m very well aware of the road,” he’d barked back at her. “Just try and keep your pretty trap shut just this once OK! I need to concentrate of the road. After we’re finished here, you can open it; open it wide so I can slip my cock in it!!” He’d laughed. After a moment she’d begun to laugh as well. They both really had been made for each other!!
After about 10 minutes he’d stomped on the brakes and the car had come to a screeching halt. “What now?” Rain had asked.
“Did you remember to bring the binoculars like I asked?” he’d replied.
“Yes I remembered to bring the binoculars like you asked,” she’d said in a mocking voice.
In a rather condescending tone he’d then said. “ OK.. Then PLEASE give them to me.”
She’d opened the glove box, removed the bionics and handed them over to Sid.
“Thank you my love,” he’d said in a mocking tone.
“What exactly are you doing?” she’d asked.
“Well we’re directly over the spot that I left her,” he’d said. “I’m going to climb down a bit and see if I can get a glance of her. I want to make sure she’s still out for the count. We don’t need her to start making noise right now.”
“I’ll be right back,” he’d said. He kissed her as he’d jumped out of the car and headed down the steep hill which had over looked the spot that Sid had left LoyAnn.
“Careful,” was all she’d said.
He’d returned and said. “Things are cool, let’s get going. We need to get down to the Rover and plant the note. You did remember the note I gave you..right??”
“Yes my love,” she’d replied in a sarcastic tone. “I have the note!!”
“OK.. Let’s roll,” he’d said.
In about five minutes they’d reached the Rover. Sid had stopped the car about 10 feet from the SUV, after taking the note from her he started to walk toward the now dust covered car. He’d made sure that when he made the note that it couldn’t have been able to be traced. He’d used some plain white paper that he bought at the local Wal-Mart and he cut the words and letters from the Denver Post. Opening it he’d read the note one more time to make sure it’d been just right.
“If You WaNt 2 See HiM AgAIN> TelL NO ONE AbouT This”
He’d refolded the note and placed it under the driver’s side windshield wiper. “Let’s go love, I’ve been waiting all day to fuck you,” he’d said with a huge grin as he jumped into the Beemer.
Night in the Woods
LoyAnn had awakened and at first hadn’t recognized her surroundings. After a few moments however she’d remembered; she and Sid had driven up to Pikes Peak to take a trek up Barr Trail. But what had happened? Her first thought had been for Sid.
“Sid! Sid!” But there’d been no answer. “Sid! Sid!” But again nothing. The only sound had been the echo of her voice as it bounced off the side of the mountain, it sounded so strange.
She’d noticed that the sun was quickly setting over the low mountains that had surrounded the Peak. It’d been early fall and would start to get dark early, especially here in the mountains, soon the last light of day would be gone from the sky. She’d looked at her watch; 4:30..
Again and again she’d cried his name, but to no avail, no answer. What’d happened to him? Where could he have gone? Certainly he’d have missed her and would have been looking for her.
She’d gotten to her feet but feeling a bit woozy, sat back down. Her mouth had been dry and there’d been a strange after taste in her month. Shed looked around and saw the backpack. “Lucky Sid had bought some water.” She’d pulled a bottle from the backpack, opened it and chugged down the cool water, it tasted great and had washed that terrible taste from her mouth. She’d tried to stand up and this time she been a bit more successful. She still hadn’t been real sure footed, but at least she’d been able to stand up. She’d staggered over to a nearby tree and bracing herself up, took another drink of water. Now she’d felt a bit stronger. She’d looked in the backpack and found some snacks that Sid had purchased at the small shop at the foot of the Peak. She found a Hershey bar at the bottom of the back, ripping off its wrapper she’d wolfed down the entire bar in three huge gulps, and then chugged down more water. Now finally she’d come to her senses.
“Sid!! Sid!!” No answer. She’d been alone on a small trail there in the middle of the soon to be dark forest that’d covered the foothills of the Peak. She’d tried to stay cool. For some reason she recalled what her self-defense instructor had told her. ‘Stay focused, just stay focused.’ Yeah that was what she’d needed to do, stay focused. There had been nothing she could do about Sid . He was a grown man, I mean my god he’d been an ex-Marine, and certainly he could fend for himself out here. He’d survived an overseas tour of duty in some Middle Eastern hell hole, so certainly he’d survive here, only a few miles from civilization.
She’d needed to find her way back to the Rover. Yeah that would be her first task. Find the Rover. She searched the backpack for more food and after she’d gobbled down another Hershey bar and a bag of Frito’s she was ready to start looking for the Rover.
She remembered that before she’d felt dizzy and had passed out they’d been walking uphill. So the logical thing would be to walk downhill, but it’d become almost pitch black and she’d known that in a few minutes she’d unable to make her way down the trail without a flashlight.
“Let’s see if Sid put a flashlight in his backpack?”
She groped around and YES, she’d felt a small flashlight at the bottom of the bag. “Thank god!! Oh thank god!!”
She’d hit the switch. It worked!!! Well at least now she’d have some light. Now the hard part had begun, getting out of the dense forest. On their way up mainly they’d stayed to the main Trail so now she had no real difficulty in making her way down the Trail. It’d been slow going, but at least she’d made some headway. She’d passed a small outhouse that they’d seen on the way up the Trail. She’d remembered remarking to Sid that at if they really had needed to pee here was a spot to do it and both had laughed. Well now it hadn’t been a laughing matter, she’d need to take a pee, and the outhouse had been a welcome sight.
As she’d stepped outside, she felt a cool breeze, she’d been inside only a few minutes, but it seemed as though it’d gotten colder much colder. She’d been wearing only a light wool sweater, for she left her vest back in the Rover, now she felt a chill as again she begun to make her way down the Trail.
“Sid! Sid!” But just as before there’d been no answer.
The time had gone by slowly. She’d looked at her watch. Three AM! It was taking her forever to get to the Rover, it’d taken them only about 3 hours to make the trip up the Trail, but of course that had been in full day light and Sid had been pushing them to get to the top of the Peak. But now in the darkness of the forest, the small flashlight had provided only a minimum of light illuminating the Trail for about 5 -6 feet in front of her. The going had been slow, but at least she’d been making some headway.
“Shit,” she’d stumbled on an exposed root in the Trail and had fallen to the ground. She got up and had smiled. “Well at least I didn’t hurt anything. Must be the training that I’ve taken, well at least that’s coming in handy for something.”
She’d dusted herself off and continued down the Trail. After she’d made her way around many turns in the Trail she thought that she saw the Rover. She couldn’t be sure, for the light from her small flashlight had gotten weaker and weaker. She hadn’t wanted to turn it off for its small light had given her some hope, some small hope of finding the Rover.
“Oh thank God!!” The Rover had been just where they’d left it so many hours ago. Instinctively she’d cried, “Sid! Sid!” But just as before, no answer. Why would he have left her out here all alone? Something must’ve been wrong. Maybe he’d injured himself?
She’d run to the Rover and when she got there, she’d fallen on her knees and groped under the driver’s side running board. After she’d felt around for a few moments, finally she found the keys, they’d been just where Sid had left them before they’d started their trek up the Trail. She’d gotten up and hit the alarm. It’d beeped. She’d opened the door and after having gotten in the Rover, collapsed, she’d been exhausted. She’d sat in the SUV for some time to see if she could regain her composure. She’d been frightened, but now at least she had the Rover to give her some feeling of safety. Finally she’d put the keys in the ignition and cracked up the SUV. She’d flicked on the lights and it’d been then she noticed the note that’d been stuck under the windshield wiper.
“Oh thank God, a note from Sid.”
She’d jumped out of the SUV and her hands were shaking as she quickly removed the note from under the windshield wiper. “It must be from Sid. It must be from him!”
She’d opened it!
If You WaNt 2 See HiM AgAIN> TelL NO ONE AbouT This
She hadn’t believed her eyes.
“Sid! Sid! Sid!” she’d screamed at the top of her voice. But there’d been no answer and only the echo of her own voice had rung through the deserted forest. She’d read the note again and again for she couldn’t believe her eyes. Why would anyone have wanted to injure Sid? He’d been just an ordinary guy. No money! He hadn’t been from an important family. Just a Mister Nobody. “Why? Why?” she’d screamed into the night.
She’d started the engine, turned on the heater and cranked it up to the highest setting. She’d pounded the steering wheel and begun to cry, the tears started to run down her cheeks. “Why?” was all she’d said again and again. “Why?”
After some time she’d regained her composure and dried her red eyes. ‘I need to get my shit together.’ She’d had to get out of there and to get to a phone. She’d known that this had been her first priority. As per Sid’s request she’d left her cell phone at her place. Just on a faint hope, she’d looked in the glove box to see if by change Sid had brought his, but nothing. So now she’d had to get moving. She’d flipped on the lights and backed out of the parking place. Then she’d made her way down the winding road. Still it’d been dark, but as she’d reached the foot of the Peak, she’d seen the first light of day which had been trying to make it over the mountain tops and into the valley. She’d felt some solace at seeing the sun, it’d been warm and given her some comfort but she’d felt like shit. She’d been hungry and badly needed a shower, but her first priority had been to get to a phone.
After she’d driven for some time, finally she’d seen a roadside phone. She'd stopped and ran to the phone. She’d fumbled for some change and after some time found a quarter in her jean pockets. She’d dropped the coin into the slot and tried to call Sid’s cell phone... nothing.. Then she’d dialed his home number. Ring… Ring.. Was all she’d heard then .. “Hello this is Sid. I’m not home now, but if you leave your name and number I’ll call you back. Thanks and have a good day.”
“It’s the fucking answering machine.”
“Sid baby, this is LoyAnn, I don’t have my phone, so call my house and leave me a message on my machine. Oh Sid.. Please!!! Please!!” She’d broken down into tears. She’d hung up the phone and slowly walked back to the SUV. There’d been nothing she could have done then but to wait.
She'd made her way down the winding road and eventually reached the place they'd stayed the night before. She’d gotten out of the SUV and run to the office. The door had been locked, wildly she’d begun to pound on the door, but there’d been no answer, the manager must’ve been cleaning the rooms. She’d run toward the small restaurant where they’d eaten dinner the previous night. She’d walked in and looked around. “Hello. Hello. Is any one around?”
“I’m back here,” a voice coming from the small kitchen in the rear of the building had said. “I’m back here.”
She’d followed the voice to the small kitchen where she located its owner.
“Hello, have you seen my boyfriend? You know the guy I was in here with the other night.” She’d said in a nervous tone.
“Sure I’ve seen him,” the owner had said.
“Oh my god.. Thank god..” she’d said. “When?”
“Well the last time I saw him was the morning when you guys ate breakfast here, he asked me to make you some hot coffee and I put it in a Thermos he gave me.”
“No I mean after that! Have you seen him after that?” she’d cried.
“Calm down there honey. Just calm down. I haven’t seen him since that morning. Why? Is there something wrong?” he’d replied
She’d thought about the note.
“No.. not really,” she’d responded. “He said he was going to meet me here this morning. Maybe he’s a bit late, that’s all.”
“Can I help you with anything else?” he’d said.
“Ah, no, no thanks, that was it,” she’d said.
She'd walked out of the restaurant and went back to the cabin. She'd unlocked the door and walked into the small room. She'd glanced at the bed that she and Sid so loving had shared and begun to cry. “Oh Sid!” she’d said out loud and begun to weep. She'd lain on the bed for a long time and cried and cried. After some time she’d gotten up and gone to the bathroom. She’d walked into the small bathroom, as she looked at the mirror she begun to scream.
We hope you did not tell any one!!! Or you can kiss him good BYE!!
The message had been scribbled on the mirror using her own lipstick. The empty tube had been placed on the sink. They had to have been watching her!! She’d needed to be very careful for she hadn’t wanted to jeopardize Sid’s life by doing something stupid. Had they seen her making the call this AM? She’d had to think. Think! Think! What to do?
She’d grabbed both her and Sid’s small overnighter and making sure that she wiped the mirror clean of any trace of the scribbled almost illegible message, made her way to the SUV. She’d thrown the bags into the SUV and after she caught up with the manager, checked out. She’d have to get back to the city for she needed to get her head on straight. ‘Don’t loose focus,’ she’d thought of her self-defense teacher's words again and again. ‘Don’t loose focus.’ The words had kept ringing in her ears.
She’d made it back to the city in record time, but had been careful not to get a ticket, the last thing she needed to do was to have THEM see her with the cops. She’d made good time and her first stop had been Sid’s place. ‘Maybe,’ she’d thought. ‘If I go to his place I can find something.. anything.. that might help me solve the mystery of Sid’s disappearance. Surely there must some clue, no matter how small that will at least give me an idea as to what’s been going on.’
